Check-In Procedures

• Fill out the Class Form for which classes you would like to run and get a insurances waiver form

• Fill out the insurance waiver.

• Everyone who is racing and/or marshalling MUST sign their own waivers prior to stepping on the track

• Parent/guardian signatures on insurances waiver is required for anyone under 18

• Payments can be made by cash, credit or debit card, Venmo, or PayPal. Please sign the acknowledgment page at the end of this handbook to confirm that you have read and understand all contents. Additionally, ensure that the insurance waiver is completed and returned to the RD prior stepping onto the track

• The track facility opens at 7:30am and is open for practice until the start of the drivers’ meeting at 9 am

• That gives 1 1/2 hours for everyone to show up. Get signed in and get ready.

• The event starts at 9:30 am after the drivers meeting

• Competitors are encouraged to use this time to prepare for their race day first prior to practice

• A drivers meeting will be held right before 1st qualifier each club race day

Class Changing Time Limits, Checking in Transponders and Controlled Practice

• To help keep the race program running efficiently, a 3-minute time limit will be enforced by the RD between classes for transponder check-ins and marshal changes.

• Failure to obey will result in penalties described below

• Track is always closed especially if watering the track until done or everyone checks and marshals in place

• Once RD opens the track everyone is allowed a 2 minute controlled practice

• After 2 minutes, the RD counts down and the tone starts qualifying.

• Your clock doesn’t start until your car crosses the start/finish line for your 5-minute qualifier.

• Controlled Practice means slow and controlled practice. Keep moving, find your rhythm, spread out, roll jumps if needed, work on staying on the racing line and do not break. If you break, qualifying will start without you—no exceptions.

• The qualifier will be done when your 5 minutes is up and the computer calls your name

• Once a qualifying run begins, all drivers on the stand must remain on the drivers’ stand until the qualifier is complete.

• Leaving early distracts other drivers and track marshals, and will not be allowed. This also applies to main events

Starting Qualifiers

• Your timer begins when you cross the start/finish line regardless of order of which you cross the line once the master tone sounds to begin qualifiers

• Stay single filed on the racing line and allow plenty of room unless you are passing

Qualifying Rules & Expectations

General Qualifying Principles

• Qualifying is not wheel-to-wheel racing—you are racing your own clock, not each other. Be respectful

• Only your best qualifying run of 2 sets your main event position.

• For the best qualifier. Maintain a steady controled pace, minimize crashes and mistakes, minimize excessive tire spin causing to lose traction and run clean laps

• Be patient dont take unnecessary risk

• Don’t send a risky pass. Waiting 2–3 seconds for a clean move is faster than crashing and losing 5–10 seconds to a marshal.

• If the car gets loose or unsettled, slow down and reset control, especially before jumps or sections you’ve had trouble with.

Racing Line & Spacing

• Stay on the racing line unless allowing a pass

• Avoid following too closely

• Do not block faster cars, if being lapped allow them to pass you no longer on the same lap as them

• Communicate on the stand—polite verbal cues help everyone race clean and is advised

Passing Guidelines

Slower Car:

• Find a safe place to let the faster car by off the racing line

• Do not stop completely on the racing line at any time

• Move gently off the racing line or go wide in the slower corners

Faster Car:

• Allow space

• Be patient. A slower car has up to three corners to provide a safe place for you to pass—they are not required see you and pull over immediately

• No dive-bombing or forcing pass attempts during qualifying

Qualifying Goal

Run the cleanest, most consistent set of laps in 5 minutes regardless of speed

Fast laps matter less than staying out of trouble and not breaking your car in qualifying, least while you learn

 Main Events

After 2 qualifiers:

• Computer sorts drivers into mains based on your best qualifier of the day

• The fastest driver in each class earns Top Qualifier (TQ) and will start first on the grid

• Mains start from a staggered grid on the straightaway. Not a single file line

• When the tone sounds, maintain control and merge smoothly into the racing line in your assigned starting position.

• This is not the time to overtake position.

• Do not force a pass at the start.

• You can’t win the race in the first corner, but you can absolutely lose it there and ruin it for other paid drivers

• Be patient—better passing opportunities will come.

Main Race Expectations

• You will not win on the sound of the tone or in the 1st few laps; be patient! You only win on the last lap! That is the time to push the car to the limits if needed

• Respect the driver ahead of you on the starting grid. They earned their position by qualifying faster. Diving for their spot at the tone only causes crashes and frustration.

• Make calculated, clean passes. 7 minutes is a long time to make moves for position. Don't rush it

• Avoiding chaos means everyone goes faster as a group

• Leaders often make mistakes or break from pushing too hard. Let the race unfold and opportunities will come naturally for position if you are patient

Position & Racecraft Rules

• The racing line is the optimal, fastest path around a track—an invisible line drivers aim to follow. Although a standard lane is about 12 feet wide, the true racing line typically occupies only a narrow 3-foot band, where grip, speed, and efficiency are maximized.

• The racing line belongs to the car already on it for position not the car trying to make a risky pass off the racing line for position

• Cutting across track to get back into the racing line and crashing someone or a unsafe re-entry can result in penalties and more lost time

• You must yield if re-entering the track after crashing or making a mistake and going off the race line and someone goes to pass

• Defensive driving (blocking the racing line effectively at race speeds) and wheel to wheel racing is allowed and encouraged within the racing line if fighting for position but remember if you cause a crash u must:

• Stop and wait until the other driver resumes racing ahead of you regardless of positions lost if wreck was your fault. This applies to both qualifiers and mains

• More than 90% of clean passes happen in the hair pin corners rarely on the straights due to risks of high speed crashes

• Use smart pressure. When the driver in front overdrives and blows a corner or crashes, take the inside line. Clean passes through mistakes are the safest and most successful in RC racing

 Podiums & Awards

• 1st–5th place winners receive podium stickers and podium pictures in all club races and classes

• Top Qualifier (TQ) receives TQ sticker + plaque for photos

• Winner photos will be taken after all mains are completed for social media

 Vehicle Maintenance Guidelines

Keeping your cars maintained and clean helps with longevity and consistency

Consistency and reliability wins races and require proper prep.

(this is not a mandatory rule just a helpful suggestion)

Pre-Run Checklist

• Before heading to the track, make sure the following items are ready:

• Car & Electronics

• Battery fully charged and securely strapped in

• ESC and Motor fans plugged in and working

• Receiver and ESC wires are not rubbing drivetrain

• Servo operates smoothly (no binding or glitching)

• Radio is powered on, correct model selected

• Failsafe is active (car brakes when radio is turned off)

• Chassis & Suspension

• Wheels/tires tightened

• Suspension arms move freely (no binding)

• Shock caps tight and no leaks

• Ride height set for today’s track conditions

• No cracks or loose hardware on bulkheads, hubs, or arms

• Spur gear and pinion mesh properly

• No rocks/debris grinding in drivetrain

• Axles, diffs, and driveshafts spin smoothly

• Slipper set correctly (if applicable)

• Body clipped on all four corners or velcro strips

• Transponder mounted securely and working

• Do a quick bench test before entering the stand

Race Day Tools to Keep You On Schedule

• RC Live Online (timing & live results) Search 2TRC in the track list section

• Pit TV Monitors

• RD Announcements over the PA

Please be prepared for your race. Delays slow the program for everyone. If you need help with any of these tools ask for help

 Reverse & Traction Control Restrictions

Reverse and electronic driver-aids such as:

• Traxxas TSM

• Spektrum AVC

• Any gyro-based traction control

Must be turned OFF for all qualifiers and mains (except Novice class). No exceptions!

Violations result in:

• Lap deletion for reverse

• Disqualification from that run if using traction control

• RD may ask you to wiggle your car off the ground to check for Traction Control at any time if there is suspension

 Driver Conduct & Sportsmanship

We try to maintain a professional, welcoming environment for all ages and skill sets. Please be respectful to others and the facilities staff we are racing toy cars for a sticker and a picture

Expected Behavior

• Show respect to all racers, staff, and spectators at all times

• No yelling or aggressive behavior towards anyone at anytime

• No swearing at, name calling, or rude out of control behavior at marshals from the drivers stands—crashes are your fault not the marshalls

• This is a family facility; poor conduct may result in warnings or removal

Marshal Safety Comes First

• Marshals must wait for safe opportunities before entering the track to marshal a flipped car

• Drivers are encouraged be patient when they crash in a high speeds or high risk area —yelling does not speed up marshalling

• Treat marshalls as you want to be treated when you marshall

Zero Tolerance

• Fighting = permanent ban from the track

• Harassment, threats, or hostility will not be tolerated

 Time-Out Rack & Marshalling

Immediately after your race you have 3 minutes to:

• Turn off car and radio

• Place car on timeout rack

• Report to your marshall position

Marshalling Requirements

• You must marshall the race after your race that is non negotiable!

• If you physically cannot marshal, you must find your own substitute. The RD is not responsible to find your replacement in time between class changes once so ever

• Look both ways before retrieving cars your safely comes 1st not the flipped car

• Never place cars directly on the racing line when marshalling. Ideal place would be near the pipe facing the right way of traffic

• If car crashes at the bottom of a hill or jump place the car on back side of the ramp not at the base of the ramp so they can gain speed faster

• Do not push, throw or toss cars when marshalling. These toys are expensive and some people take pride.

• NEVER EVER grab a Nitro car or truck by the sides! The exhaust pipe on ALL nitro cars are sticking out the side and you WILL burn your hand badly!

• Proper way to flip any RC car is grabbing from the front nose and back between the tires and flip it over sideways

• Stay in your area and watch YOUR corner until RD Says we are done

Penalties

Failure to marshall or follow timeout rack rules that are established and time limits for class change results in:

• 1-lap penalty for that round in that class regardless if qualifying or mains

Volunteer marshals may be requested by the RD for smaller classes with a low drivers count; please help if able. It makes the program go quicker and smoother for everyone

 Timeouts, Staging, & Track Procedures

-Timeouts

• Drivers may request one 1-minute timeout before qualifiers if they need more than the 3 minutes allotted for class changes

• No timeouts during mains. Once we check in and line up we go. Be prepared!

• If a race starts and you are not on the stand but checked in, you may still join late

• If you missed check in you are out in the current round. Don't be late!

Staging

• Use the nitro ramp area for staging prior to your class starting to help keep the program running fast and as smoothly as possible

• RD will announce staging during the current race giving you plenty of time to make your way to the staging area and get your car turned on and ready

• Wait your turn.Do not enter the drivers stand til the previous class has all came down

• Don't distract the current class. Stand under the drivers stand so you are not a distraction until it is your turn
